FREE AUDIO BUSINESS ENGLISH LESSON: AT THE AIRPORT
Read the dialogue and think about how to handle this situation.
Read the dialogue as expressively as you can!
Speaker: Excuse me madam could I please ask you to step over here, please? You have been chose at random to have your luggage searched.
Student: Is this going to take long? I’m in a bit of a hurry.
Speaker: It will only take few minutes. Are you carrying any alcohol, cigarettes or othe such goods? Are you carrying a large sum of money?
Student: Yes I am. I have 2 bottles of Whiskey.
Speaker: Ok, we are going to ask you to open your luggage so we may look at the contents.
Student: There you go.
Speaker: Are you aware that the maximum quantity of alcohol that you are permitted to carry is 1000ml?
Student: No, I wasn’t. I bought them as a gift for a business meeting I have tomorrow.
Speaker: I’m afraid we’re going to have to confiscate one of these bottles unless you want to pay the duty for it.
Student: Ok that’s fine. How much is the Duty.
Speaker: I will be $10.58.
Student: Here you go. Am I free to leave now?
Speaker: Yes, you are. Have a pleasant stay.
Student: Thank you, good-bye.
